Little beach huts

Soggy summers afternoon here in England. These little beach huts are a great way to think of sunnier days.

Little Patriotic Doors

Had an idea for these from my daughter . The door planks seemed to make a good half union jack. So put together these little doors as a wall plaque  with a patriotic beach hut feel. All hand painted and cut . Look out for more flags on Etsy.

New Shed

Oh the joys of a new shed. Very exciting . Now all my sawing and sanding can happen  here and not on the dining table. Need a work bench too. Plannng on blue .

All of this after we have finally get the fence up and take down the old shed. All this delayed due to a bumble bee nest which we successfully managed to not disturb- too much,

Cafe sign for Pinewood Studios

Out of the blue I was asked to make a prop for a film at Pinewood Studios. Request for a double sided sign in pink and green with contrasting teapots. The stencil is hand cut, the teapots handpainted in fact all by hand. The film is called "Met Before You" and is due out next year. The sign is for a cafe in the film so i'll be keeping my eyes peeled.

Check out the  film link and drop by  the Etsy shop if you want to order a sign with your choice of words.

Little Bird Houses

Bird houses and huts seem popular on my Etsy site so thought I d branch out on these- no pun intended! Been quite fiddly , but the first time on  a new project can be before i find the best way to get a good finish. The roof is made form giant lolly pop sticks , the window frames are hand cut with matchstick cross. The picket fence is smallerlolly sticks with matchsticks. More on the way in different shapes and colours.

Little Shelves

Jury is out on these. Not sure about the colour and finish.

Stay tuned and see if it changes.

The colours are inspired by the houses  and hotels in the main street of Kitzbuhel.

Little decorated box

Little decorated box
I took a plain wooden box and painted it white.

The outside is covered with a single layer of checked/white tissue paper.

This works well and looks neater than lots of decopage pieces although you have to be careful not to rip the paper.

The paper is stuck on with PVA and then smoothed down with the same brush. Inside the box is lined with material. The box is then finished with a single red button.

Button bowl

How to kind of make a button bowl

Here is my attempt at button bowl.

I half blew up a small balloon and put it knot side down in a cup/glass/pot. I then coated it with pva and let it dry.
Next stuck on buttons with pva  not leaving any gaps. Then i put more glue on -too much glue and my buttons all slid down the balloon.

 I should have waited !

So the trick is patience this bowl can take several days to make. I'd put several layers on the balloon before the buttons and let it dry, then stick on buttons and let it dry , finally more glue. Wait until completely dry before removing the balloon.
Good Luck

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all crafty people.

Lots of projects to make this year. Bit slow to get going after Christmas so I thought I would start with a nice cup of tea to warm up. This is one of the little TEA signs I have on my ETSY shop. Handmade, stencilled and painted sign with a raised painted wooden shape. Simple ,friendly and a gentle reminder that TEA is always a good idea. How very English!!
